Happy
Holidays! It’s hard to believe we’re
already celebrating our third Christmas in Philadelphia and that the
time has
passed so quickly. It seems that as the
boys get older, the weekly calendar of activities gets busier and
busier. Thanks to the wonderful group of
friends
we’ve made here that each have children of similar ages, every activity
seems
to grow into a party or social event of some kind.
So it’s been a hectic but happy year for us in 2004. Charlie
is now in the second grade and played his first season of tackle
football this
fall. He played the position of
offensive tackle and his team finished the season undefeated at 8-0. Charlie also played baseball and continued
to be a pool rat over the summer. He’s
now giving basketball a try for the first time. He’s also a wonderful
reader
and is currently mesmerized while reading “Lemony Snicket’s: A Series
of
Unfortunate Events”. The combination of
all these sports along with school work have helped Charlie develop a
lot of
personal discipline and maturity this past year. He’s
been diligent at fully completing his homework and doing
well in school, while also working hard every day for his coaches. We could not be more proud of our eldest
son. Henry
turned six this year and continues to be the family expert on every
video game
in the house. He’s also discovered
online games at cartoonnetwork.com, so getting time on the family
computer is
already getting more difficult. Henry
also started Kindergarten at the local Elementary School this year. His teacher quickly discovered how different
but equally bright Henry is compared to his older brother.
Henry is very inquisitive, independent and
often downright fearless – which has it’s pros and cons from a parental
standpoint. However, soccer is Henry’s
favorite sport and he really excelled at playing goalie this season,
often
making diving saves amid a crowd of feet and knees.
He loves roller coasters, exciting movies and just about
anything else that involves thrills and chills. Henry is an amazing
little dare
devil and we love him dearly. Naturally, Patrick is also a
completely unique character as well. While
still fascinated with anything related to the Power
Rangers,
Patrick seems to have inherited some of Beth’s creativity and artistic
talent. For starters, we’ve never met a
4 year old who was pickier about what clothes he wears – often changing
several
times a day according to his mood. He
loves to color and draw (left handed of course) and stays within the
lines
better than any of us did at his age. While
still our youngest, Patrick is growing up fast. Anything
that Charlie and Henry are doing,
Patrick wants to be right in the middle of it. Patrick
is also an emerging social butterfly, willing to
strike up a
conversation with anyone, anywhere. Of
course another creative quirk is that he’ll often introduce himself as
Shane,
Nicolas or any other name that pops into his head – but that’s our
Patrick!
Beth also continued to be the Social Queen of the PTO at Charlie & Henry’s school, with many successful parties and fund raising events. Chris continued to head marketing at ARAMARK and led the successful launch of a major nutritional initiative this past year that garnered national news coverage, including a front-page article in USA Today and a brief interview on National Public Radio. In all it was a wonderful and exciting year. Best wishes to you and yours for a Happy Holiday Season and a Healthy & Prosperous 2005!
