What's New With Us

12/20/06 Malone Boys

Happy Holidays!  It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone, but all the shoes and clothes our boys have outgrown remind us that it’s true.  We’ve been fortunate to enjoy much happiness and health in 2006, especially watching our boys grow and mature.

Charlie (10) is now a fourth grade “upper classman” at his elementary school.  He’s been doing very well in his classes and recently joined an advanced math program.  Charlie is now also taking saxophone lessons at school, so we may have a musician in the family soon.  Outside the classroom, his Marple Junior Tigers football team had another very successful season, finishing 9-1-1 and winning their conference.  This year he played offensive guard and some defensive tackle.   During the past year, Charlie also successfully converted his brothers into rabid football fans as well.  He’s led them into playing football video games on every conceivable gaming device and watching several NFL broadcasts each week.  More importantly, he’s working hard to learn good sportsmanship and set a good example for his brothers.   We’re extremely proud of our Big Guy!

Henry 2005

Henry (8) seems to be going through a growth spurt and is insatiably hungry at all times.  Perhaps this comes from having completed his first season of tackle football.  Henry played center and some defensive back for
the 80 pound Tigers team, and despite all his eating, he has yet to break 60 pounds on the scale!  Henry’s team also had a very successful season finishing 8-1.  In fact, Henry intercepted a pass and ran it back 60 yards for a touchdown in one of his games!  He is also playing organized basketball for the first time and seems to have a natural knack for it.  But most importantly, Henry is also doing very well in his second grade class.  He especially enjoys math, gym and recess – though not in that order.   But no matter what Henry does, we love him dearly.

Patrick (6) is now attending half-day kindergarten at Charlie & Henry’s school.  He is clearly the artist in the family and excels at drawing, coloring and painting.  Our kitchen is covered wall to wall with his work.
10th Anniversary
Given that we already had Charlie & Henry heading to the football field
several nights a week, we did our best to interest Patrick in flag football as well.  After some initial apprehension and a somewhat short attention span on the field, Patrick really took to the game and became one of his team’s most aggressive defensive players.
<>Even after the game is over, he seems to have an endless source of energy in everything he does.  He never
<> tires of throwing the football with Dad in the front yard or jumping in the trampoline with his brothers.   In the same way, we are endlessly proud of our little renaissance man!

Beth completed another banner year as chairperson for all social and fundraising events at the boy’s school<>. Her planning and leadership of the annual Pumpkin Festival fundraiser increased revenue by nearly 50%. Her next big event, the annual Talent Show, is right around the corner in February.  Word is that it will have an American Idol theme!  After taking up surfing two years ago, Chris enjoyed a weeklong surfing trip to Florida in March.  Shortly afterwards he underwent surgery to repair an unrelated injury to his wrist from the previous summer.  The surgery went great and Chris was back on the surfboard by July.  New adventures in business are surely ahead in 2007 as Chris’ employer, ARAMARK, will go private in an $8.5 billion buyout in January.   We look forward to all the good things the New Year will bring us.

Best wishes to you and yours for a Happy Holiday Season and a Healthy & Prosperous 2007!
